  4. EXTRA INSURANCE COVERAGE

The following activities are very likely to require an extra insurance coverage:

Aerial Scenes: Shoots from aircraft including airplanes, helicopters, gliders and balloons. Includes scenic shots from private or commercial aircraft that do not involve aerial acrobatics or other hazardous manoeuvres. Does not include aircraft liability.

Falls: scenes involving scripted and choreographed falls.

Fight Scenes: Fight scenes that are choreographed, structured, and sequenced. These scenes may involve physical contact between actors and the use of weapons

Recreational Vehicles: The use of recreational vehicles such as ATV's, go carts, mopeds, motorcycles, scooters, Segways, snowmobiles and similar type vehicles.

Water Scenes: Canoes, kayaks, shots on lakes, shoots primarily in water, surfing and pools.

Weapons: Scenes that involve prop guns, squibs, blanks, knives or other similar weapons.

Precision Driving: Controlled driving on public roads, race tracks, off-road (no racing, skidding or collisions).

Animals: Scenes involving the use of animals, such as: dogs, farm animals, household pets and zoo animals.

Other Stunts actions: Fireworks, Pyrotechnics, Demolitions/Explosions, Flashboxes/Flashpods, Chase Scenes, Vehicle Collisions, Vehicle Explosions

    Some locations (expensive locations)

    Expensive props and wardrobe.

When shooting in a studio that doesn’t have a fire certificate, as it’s then classed as a ‘Location’.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CONTACT OUR INSURANCE BROKER BEFORE EACH JOB TO CHECK ON THE JOB REQUIREMENTS AND SEE IF EXTRA COVERAGE IS REQUIRED.

  5. EDITORIAL SHOOTS

Creative Blood does not insure editorial shoots, the insurance has to come direct from the magazine/artist.

Please request copies of the insurance certificates at the beginning of each editorial job to make sure that their policy offers the right level of cover. It must include Public liability insurance and equipment insurance.

If in doubt, please share insurance certificates with Ray Ossenkop who will advise if an additional policy needs to be taken out and paid for by the magazine/artist.

  6. FAQ

Q: Are we insured for talent to drive a car in shot?

A: You are as long as there is no precision driving, stunt driving or racing. No skidding or wheel spin. No collisions or colliding with objects. All of these would need to be cleared by the insurance company.

Q: We are due to shoot tomorrow and have just found out that the rental company we have approached will not accept our company's insurance because we are based in the UK. Is there any way we could put the EQ rental through CB

A: It is possible. CB will need to be the entity listed on the rental contact.

Q: Are we covered to shoot on a flying plane?

A.: Production polices exclude all cover when moving aircraft are involved. Have the Plane operator add Creative Blood as and additional insured to their aviation policy.

Q.: I am shooting in Mexico and we are wondering what sort of paperwork I need to shoot on a boat. Charter license obligatory?

A.: If you are not operating the boat you should at least have Charterer’s Legal Liability to protect Creative Blood from any suits that may be filed because of an incident. We can add cover for rented and/or owned equipment while being used on or over the water if you thought it necessary. I have attached the movie boat application.

The cost will depend on the value of the boats we need to insure. Also, the value of the production equipment that will be on board if cover is desired.

Q.: The boat is hired by the local production company in Mexico and so is the equipment - should it not be them insuring this?

A.: Most likely yet it will ultimately depend on your service contract with them. If they are providing the insurance have them add Creative Blood as additional insured. If this is not possible we can issue a non-owned watercraft liability only policy for $500.

Q.: I’m shooting in Europe, are we covered by the insurance policy that we have with Creative Blood Inc

A.: Creative Blood’s production package and E&O policies provide cover worldwide. The liability and auto covers the US and Canada. Workers compensation, just in the US. We would recommend a foreign package policy to pick up these coverage gaps.

This WW is an annual policy but each job that is outside of the US or Canada needs to be scheduled, which will generate a premium for that job. So though the policy period is annual, the coverage period will depend on the job we add to the policy. The cost of each trip will depend on the number of travelers and foreign hires.

To schedule a trip we need:

    The location/s

    Date of departure.

    Date retuning to the US.

    Number of travelers.

Number of foreign national hires (if any).
